Dear Ms. Santos, Thank you for your interest in the Medusa Murtola. I am pleased to share the following: Provenance (partial): - The painting has been in private Roman collection since the early 18th century - Gallery records trace ownership through three families in the Roma nobility - Published references in two academic catalogues (details attached) I have existing reports from Italian restoration experts who examined the work in 2019, confirming period-appropriate materials and technique. However, a full scientific authentication by international experts has not yet been conducted. I understand the significance of proper authentication for a work of this caliber and am open to discussing the process. Cordially, Ernesto Paleani Galleria Paleani, Roma

Dear Mr. Paleani, Thank you for the provenance documentation and restoration reports. The partial provenance is encouraging, and the 2019 material analysis provides a good foundation. To proceed, we propose the following authentication process: 1. Independent examination by two internationally recognized Caravaggio scholars 2. Scientific analysis: X-ray fluorescence, infrared reflectography, and paint sample analysis 3. Provenance gap research by a certified art history researcher 4. Timeline: 12 weeks for full authentication All costs for the authentication process would be borne by Cosmos Trade as part of our LOI commitment. We would request that the artwork remain accessible for examination during this period. Would you be agreeable to this approach? Dear Ms. Santos, I agree to the authentication process you have outlined. The proposed approach is thorough and professional. I suggest the following timeline: - Weeks 1-2: Scholar examinations (the painting can be viewed at my gallery in Roma) - Weeks 3-6: Scientific analysis at an agreed laboratory - Weeks 7-10: Provenance research - Weeks 11-12: Report compilation and review The artwork will remain accessible throughout. I would request that a confidentiality agreement be in place before we share the full location and viewing schedule. I look forward to receiving the formal LOI. Cordially, Ernesto Paleani Galleria Paleani, Roma
